Community History

The Edmonton Greek-Canadian Community was established in 1938.  George Spillios was the first chairman.  This is also the first Greek Community in the Prairie Provinces.

St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church was formally established and registered under the Religious Societies Lands Act of the Province of Alberta in 1945.  The Church continues to be registered under this Act to this day.
